Committees
The Missouri Developmental Disabilities Council has several working committees. Each committee has assigned areas and projects on which they focus. The committees build their knowledge in their prescribed area, study research and best practices and develop future projects that will move the Council's efforts to achieve the goals in the five-year plan forward. Ad hoc members and others who wish to provide input for the committee efforts are encouraged to participate in the committee activities. The regular committee meeting times and locations are included with the meeting agendas. Each Committee has a chairperson who is appointed by the Council Chairperson and specific staff person(s) assigned to provide support. Each committee is assigned certain responsibilities but additional areas may be addressed as needed. Current committees are:
Executive Committee: The Executive Committee focuses on ongoing program and budget management, personnel issues and overall direction of the Council.
Home and Community Living Committee: The Home and Community Living Committee focuses on such areas as self-determination, housing, independent living opportunities, community capacity, guardianship, aging issues, and victimization.
Education Committee: The Education Committee focuses on education issues such as early intervention, early, primary and secondary education, higher education, and school transition.
Employment/Transportation Committee: The Employment/Transportation Committee focuses on developing and enhancing integrated community employment opportunities and increasing affordable, accessible transportation systems and solutions.
Grass Roots Advocacy Committee: The Grass Roots Advocacy Committee focuses on building relationships that serve as conduits for grassroots input between the Council and advocates and stakeholders from across the state.
