The energy! The advocacy! The excitement!

On March 1, 2023, more than 500 disability self-advocates and advocates from across the state came together in person and virtually to have their voices heard. The day consisted of a rally, 3 virtual breakout sessions, and appointments with legislators.

We are grateful to have the chance to advocate with you.

This legislative session was full of opportunities to voice your concern and support. YOU SHOWED UP. Many said that Disability Rights Legislative Day turnout was the biggest they had ever seen.

Filling the rotunda with shouts of “This is our House!” was loud and lawmakers heard you.

Meet with Legislators:

Now that session is over, it’s the perfect time to meet with legislators. Since they left Jefferson City, they are back home in your districts, making it easier to meet with in your town.

Ideas for meeting with your legislator:

  • Invite them to where you work
  • Invite them to a meeting or group you are a part of
  • Thank them for their work this past session
  • Talk about your experiences and what is important to you

You can look up your legislator here. You can also find legislation or voting record, on their website here.

Even if you don’t have an agenda, introducing yourself is a very valuable first-step in advocacy.
